Butler’s Undersized C with High-Impact Interior Presence
Ashanti Thomas, the 6’9” center for the Butler Bulldogs, stands out not for traditional size but for his relentless intensity, elite footwork, and defensive IQ in the 2025-26 season. While he didn’t lead in scoring (Butler’s top scorer was Michael Ajayi with 24 points in their opener [3]), Thomas differentiates as a high-effort rebounder and shot-blocker who thrives in transition and sets hard, smart screens. He has no known injury history and brings a “next-play” mentality that elevates team morale. Though not a stat leader, his differentiator is consistency under pressure—making him a strong fit for teams needing a gritty, reliable interior presence who can guard multiple positions and execute in tight games. Butler finished 16-15, 7th in Big East [1].
