veteran Drake linebacker with proven production and academic grit
Michael Vankat’s profile is built on reliability and toughness: in the 2015 season, Drake listed him as a fifth-year senior linebacker who logged 21 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, while also earning Academic All-PFL honors with a 3.61 GPA in accounting and finance. He looks like the kind of steady, assignment-sound defender who brings experience, discipline, and a high football-IQ fit to a linebacker room—less “flashy stat monster,” more “trust him in the room and on the field.”
