BYU’s Ryner Swanson: four-star TE talent with NFL-ish tools and mission pause
Swanson arrived at BYU as a four-star tight end and top-20 national recruit at his position, bringing a 6-foot-4, 245-pound frame, strong hands, and real passing-game upside. In 2024, he flashed as a true freshman before a high ankle sprain slowed him, then he paused his career to serve a mission in Kenya, with the earliest return projected for 2027. The appeal is obvious: he projects as a mismatch weapon, but his current value is more future-facing than immediate.
