Wisconsin’s NFL-Ready Guard Who’s Already in the League
Beau Benzschawel is no current college athlete—he’s a former Wisconsin Badgers guard who signed with the Detroit Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2018 and is now an NFL veteran, not a college or high school player [1][3]. His differentiators include a fifth-round draft grade from analyst Tony Pauline ahead of the 2018 season, elite durability (no major injury history noted), and a physical, high-intensity playing style that made him one of Wisconsin’s most reliable OL pieces during his redshirt senior year [3]. If you’re scouting for a team, Benzschawel isn’t a fit for college roster building—he’s already in the professional ranks, offering proven NFL-level technique and toughness rather than developmental upside.
