In the 2025-26 season, freshman guard Gavin Sykes quickly became the Beach’s offensive engine, earning Big West Player of the Week honors after a 34-point road eruption at CSUN and a 16-point follow-up against UC Riverside; he later set Long Beach State’s freshman scoring record and finished the season with 19.4 points per game on efficient shooting splits.
