SDSU’s all-time 3-point ace and a spacing weapon
Mercedes Staples is best known for elite perimeter shooting: in the 2022-23 season she hit 47.2% from three and finished as San Diego State’s all-time leader in career 3-point percentage (.410), with a program-best season mark of .455. She was also a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic selection, which hints at the steady, detail-oriented game that coaches love. The fit is simple: if you need a guard who stretches defenses, makes smart decisions, and brings a low-drama, high-IQ presence, she’s exactly the kind of player who quietly makes a roster better.
