Eastern Illinois walk-on linebacker story, built on grit and earned opportunity
Brian Jones’ Eastern Illinois profile available online points to a classic underdog linebacker arc: he walked on, redshirted, then earned a full-ride after outworking expectations, which says a lot about his motor and buy-in. That kind of background usually translates to reliability, toughness, and a team-first edge that coaches love in a LB room. The available sources are historical rather than current stat feeds, so this is better viewed as a character-and-development fit than a 2026 production snapshot—still, if you want a scrappy, coachable, grind-it-out defender, this is exactly the kind of guy who sneaks onto the radar.
