Luke Baier brings rare size and a defensive-first catcher profile to ACU
Luke Baier looks like a depth-and-defense add for Abilene Christian rather than a bat-first headline act: the 6-foot-5 catcher’s background includes Gold Glove recognition in the NWAC, and ACU lists him on its 2026 roster after he spent 2025 with only four games and one hit in limited action. That makes his calling card clear—big frame, catcher’s build, and glove value—but his offensive ceiling at the Division I level still needs proof. If a team wants a mature, defense-minded backstop with upside and a blue-collar path, Baier is intriguing; if it needs immediate middle-of-the-order production, this is not that guy.
