Big-armed former record-setter now learning the college game at SDSU
In 2026, Stone Saunders is a redshirt freshman QB at San Diego State who brings real pedigree: he arrived from Kentucky after a record-breaking Pennsylvania prep career and flashed in spring with 144 passing yards and a TD in the Aztecs’ scrimmage, but his early season role has been limited behind Jayden Denegal. His appeal is the arm talent, production, and poise of a high-end recruit; the caution flag is health, after he suffered a broken collarbone in September 2026 and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks. He fits a team that wants a developmental passer with upside and toughness.
