Aliyah Castro gives South Carolina State a steady, senior catcher with elite hands
In the 2026 season, Aliyah Castro has been a defensively reliable senior catcher for South Carolina State, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage while handling a heavy workload behind the plate, but her bat has lagged, with a .087 average and modest run production[1][3]. Her value is in the glue-player stuff coaches love: clean receiving, game management, and a calm, veteran presence that can stabilize a staff. If a team wants a tough, defense-first catcher who can earn innings by controlling the run game and reducing mistakes, Castro fits the bill[1][3].
