Charleston Southern DB Austin Wald brings South Carolina speed and coverage upside
Austin Wald is a Charleston Southern defensive back whose biggest calling card is speed and multi-sport athleticism, with recruiting notes listing him as a standout South Carolina athlete and one of the state’s fastest sprinters (10.6 in the 100 meters, 21.6 in the 200) in the 2022 recruiting cycle.[2] That profile suggests a DB with recovery quickness, range, and upside in man coverage and special teams, even though the public stat trail is thin on ESPN.[1][3] If you want a developmental defensive back with real burst and athletic ceiling, he’s worth a look.
