AJ Mayer brings veteran mobility and situational spark to Arkansas State
In the 2022 season, AJ Mayer gave Arkansas State a useful dual-threat look: he threw for 214 yards and 2 passing touchdowns while adding 169 rushing yards and 2 rushing scores across 9 games, with a 106.6 passer rating and 48.7% completion rate. His differentiator is functional mobility at 6-foot-3, 231 pounds, plus proven value in short-yardage and red-zone situations. He’s more of a measured, chain-moving quarterback than a pure volume passer, so he fits best with a team that values toughness, occasional explosiveness, and a QB who can create with his legs.
