Rutgers’ original Schiano-era tone-setter at linebacker
Brad Cunningham was a foundational Rutgers linebacker in the early Greg Schiano rebuild, appearing in 31 career games from 2001–2005 and finishing with 98 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. In the 2001 season, he flashed immediate impact with a career-high 14 tackles and three TFL vs. Navy, and by 2005 he was also recognized for major academic improvement. His calling cards were toughness, versatility and consistency — the kind of rugged, high-effort player coaches trust to help change a program’s identity.
