High School Scoring Sensation Adjusting to Limited College Minutes at Miami (OH)
Ben Helmers, a dynamic guard from Algona High School, exploded for 20.7 points and 6 rebounds per game in the 2023 season—capping it with a 45-point high and 37.6% from three—showcasing elite scoring instincts, relentless steals (2.7/g), and toughness that made him a recruiting standout. Now a Miami (OH) RedHawk with modest career college stats (1.9 PTS, 0.5 REB per ESPN), he's a high-upside freshman differentiator with proven high school dominance, perfect for teams needing a microwave scorer off the bench who brings Iowa-bred grit and playmaking flair.
