Iowa’s ultra-efficient former walk-on point guard with deep Hawkeye roots
Branden Stubbs was a high-IQ Iowa guard whose calling cards were efficiency, steady decision-making, and fan-first toughness: in the 2011-12 season, he was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and played in 12 games, while his Iowa career showed strong shooting numbers and limited-usage reliability rather than high volume. A Des Moines Christian star, he arrived with 2,145 career high-school points and 717 assists, which helps explain his feel for the game and unselfishness. He’s the kind of fit coaches love when they want a disciplined, no-drama backcourt piece.
