NJIT’s Nelson Smith brings a big frame, steady relief value, and veteran mileage
In the 2025 season at Lee, Nelson Smith logged 22 innings with 18 strikeouts, and in the 2024 season he threw 39 innings with 33 strikeouts; NJIT lists the redshirt fifth-year right-hander at 6-foot-7, 215 pounds, which gives him obvious downhill plane and a power-pitcher profile[1][10]. His 2026 NJIT usage shows him in the mix out of the bullpen, including recent relief appearances, and his track record suggests a durable, experienced arm who can give a staff length when needed[1][4][6].
