Weber State’s walk-on-turned-all-conference tone-setter at linebacker
Mortensen built his rep the hard way: from walk-on to Big Sky Defensive MVP in the 2020-21 spring season, when he posted 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, an interception, and a sack. He’s a throwback inside linebacker—physical, smart, durable, and assignment-sound—who also brings leadership and championship pedigree from Weber State’s four straight Big Sky title run. The fit is obvious for teams wanting a high-IQ, high-motor defender who can diagnose quickly and punch above his recruiting profile.
