Long, dependable Columbia linebacker with coverage upside
Brian East brings prototype size at linebacker, plus the kind of range and length that can help Columbia match up in space; his roster notes call out above-average coverage skills, toughness, and steady development in size and strength. In 2012, he played in all 10 games and produced 25 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and 2 fumble recoveries, showing active hands and ball awareness. The fit question is simple: if your team wants a dependable Sam linebacker who can handle substituted packages and grow into a starting role, East looks like a solid value add rather than a flashy headline grabber.
