UC Davis’ leadoff spark with power, speed, and no-nonsense production
In the 2026 season, Alyssa Dethlefson emerged as a true table-setter for UC Davis, earning Big West Field Player of the Week after batting .533 with 4 homers, 5 steals, 8 runs scored, and 1.667 slugging across a four-game stretch, all without striking out in 18 plate appearances. She finished 2026 with a .315 average and showed rare leadoff pop-and-speed juice: conference-leading triples, elite baserunning, and enough bat-to-ball skill to keep pressure on defenses. If you want an aggressive, versatile, high-motor impact player, she’s the fun kind of problem.
