Freshman RHP Carter Samuelson quickly became a rotation piece for UAB
In the 2026 season, Carter Samuelson jumped from freshman depth arm to real rotation help for UAB, working 56.1 innings, posting five wins, and finishing third on the team in strikeouts with 37. He gives the Blazers innings, poise, and strike-throwing upside, and UAB’s staff trusted him enough to start him in conference play after he joined the rotation in mid-March. The early returns suggest a durable right-hander who competes, handles volume, and can fit as a steady back-end starter or swingman.
