LSU’s rugged, award-winning center who set the tone up front
In the 2004 season, Ben Wilkerson was LSU’s anchor at center, earning co-Rimington Trophy honors after allowing just two sacks in eight games while helping power a run game that averaged over 200 yards per game. He started 41 games in four years and was a key leader on LSU’s 2003 national championship team, which is why he’s remembered as one of the best centers in program history. His calling cards: reliability, intelligence, toughness, and a nasty edge in the trenches — though a knee injury shortened his senior season.
