EIU’s gritty dual-threat spark with proven late-drive poise
Mitch Kimble was a physically sturdy 6-3, 215-pound dual-threat quarterback for Eastern Illinois who, in the 2017 season, completed 52 of 92 passes for 415 yards and a touchdown, and he also brought value as a runner after posting 139 rushing yards and two scores in 2016.[1][2] His calling card was toughness under pressure: EIU notes he led the Panthers to a 4-2 start as a starter before injuries interrupted parts of the year, and game notes highlight a clutch, finish-the-job style, including a walk-off TD drive at Indiana State.[1][2]
