Shawn Payne brings size, range, and upside to Virginia Tech’s secondary
Shawn Payne is a long, physical defensive back at **6-3** who was rated a **4-star-style prospect** with strong marks for **instincts** and **closing speed**, traits that fit a modern corner/safety hybrid role. He also brings a different kind of value beyond measurables: a military-family background and a workmanlike profile suggest discipline and toughness. The main fit question is development—he looks like a high-upside defender who can help if your team wants length, tackling, and versatility in coverage.
