Reliable leg, limited sample, and a clear all-state pedigree
Ewton’s best-known Texas Tech moment came in the 2017 season, when he handled pressure as a true freshman and went 9-for-10 on extra points but only 1-for-3 on field goals, including a 32-yarder at Houston; that tiny sample says “developmental kicker,” not finished product. He was a decorated Allen High School specialist with 50-plus-yard range, strong accuracy, and multi-role versatility as a kicker, punter, and kickoff man, which hints at athletic value beyond just field goals. The upside is leg talent; the question is consistency under college pressure.
