Essence Townsend brings Maryland a true interior anchor with proven post-production
Townsend profiles as a classic center who can give Maryland size, paint presence, and efficient finishing on the block; her listed profile identifies her as a **center** at Maryland, and her résumé includes established rebounding and scoring outputs in conference-level play. She matters because a player like this can change how an opponent guards the rim, but the fit question depends on whether a team needs a traditional interior big rather than a floor-spacing center. Publicly available sources are limited on recent game-by-game context, so the clearest takeaway is her value as a physically credible, paint-oriented frontcourt piece.
