Jakobi Jones brings veteran Southern grit at defensive back
Jakobi Jones is a seasoned Southern University defensive back whose calling card is reliability: in the 2021 season, he was repeatedly among the Jaguars’ tackle leaders, including an eight-tackle game with a pass breakup and another outing with nine tackles, showing he can flash downhill, finish plays, and handle volume in the run game. His value goes beyond numbers—he played multiple defensive roles over his career, which suggests versatility, football IQ, and coach trust. For a team needing an experienced, physical DB who isn’t shy about contact, Jones looks like a steady fit.
