USC Upstate's Dynamic Guard Sparkling in 2025-26

Karim Mawunyega, USC Upstate's explosive guard, is lighting up the ASUN with his elite quickness and scoring punch, averaging 18.2 points and 4.1 assists per game in the 2025-26 season so far—tops among freshman guards. His differentiator? Relentless on-ball pressure and a fearless playmaking style that turns defense into instant transition buckets, drawing praise from scouts for his high-motor intensity and coachability. No major injury history, he's a culture-fit steal for mid-major contenders or developmental NBA paths—watch him elevate the Spartans in March.
