Jacoby Mathews brings SEC-tested size, pedigree, and upside to Auburn’s secondary
In the 2025 season, Jacoby Mathews arrived at Auburn as a senior safety with proven SEC experience, coming off 66 tackles, 7 pass breakups, and 1 interception across his Texas A&M career, with his best year in 2023. His calling card is range plus physicality: a former five-star and the No. 1 safety in his class, he gives Auburn a bigger, more seasoned body in the back end and some much-needed stability. The catch? He has to turn recruiting-star heat into steady every-week production, but the ceiling is obvious enough to make him worth caring about.
