seasoned SMU defensive back with a nose for the ball
Chase Courtney is listed by ESPN as an SMU cornerback with 1 solo tackle, 0 interceptions, 0 forced fumbles, and 0 passes defended in the current stat line, so the headline numbers are modest[1]. What makes him interesting is the profile underneath: SMU’s roster history shows he’s a Louisiana defensive back with corner/linebacker versatility, suggesting a physical, adaptable defender who can help in multiple packages[2]. If you want a DB who brings flexibility and team-fit value more than flash, Courtney fits that mold[1][2].
