Trench grinder with real coaching chops — but not an active Utah State player
Al Lapuaho is best known as a former Utah State defensive lineman who later returned as the Aggies’ defensive line coach, so if you’re evaluating him as a current player, that’s the key catch: he’s on the staff, not the roster[1][7]. His value is his trench expertise, Aggie familiarity, and a reputation for developing physical, disciplined linemen—traits highlighted by his work at Nevada, where his line produced All-Mountain West-caliber results in 2022[10]. For Utah State, he fits as a culture-builder and technician, not as an athlete to project into a lineup[1][7].
