Michael Rubino brings proven kickoff power and veteran special-teams value to UNC
Michael Rubino is a 6-3, 215-pound graduate-transfer place-kicker with proven leg strength, built on a career as a kickoff specialist and spot field-goal kicker at Appalachian State before joining North Carolina. In 2018, he averaged 61.0 yards per kickoff with 49 touchbacks, and in 2017 he handled field goals and extra points while also producing 29 touchbacks on 81 kickoffs. His value is less about flash than reliability, depth, and a big-leg fit for special teams; if UNC wants a veteran who can flip field position and handle pressure in specialist roles, he’s a sensible add.
