Evan Cornelius is giving UMass Lowell a sturdy, strike-throwing junior look on the mound
In the 2026 season, Evan Cornelius has worked in a swing role for UMass Lowell, including a 4.1-inning, no-earned-run start against NJIT and a 4.0-inning, one-earned-run outing vs. Wagner, showing he can give the River Hawks competitive innings without blinking under pressure. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound righty brings a projectable frame, starter’s durability, and a history of missing bats — he also struck out eight over 5.2 innings across eight appearances at Rollins in 2024-25 — making him a useful fit for a staff that values size, strike-throwing, and versatility.
