7-foot, rim-protecting center with efficient finishing touch
In the 2026 season, Phil Wait is a senior 7-foot-1 center for Monmouth whose calling card has long been size, efficiency, and interior defense; historically he posted 5.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and a team-high 19 blocks in his first Hawks season while shooting 52.4% from the field, and later profiles note he was a heavily scouted, old-school back-to-the-basket big with real beef under the rim. That blend makes him a fit for teams needing paint presence, simple scoring, and shot deterrence more than stretch-center flash.
