Yaiza Rodriguez Ortego was Boise State’s elite pass-first guard
Yaiza Rodriguez Ortego stood out at Boise State in the 2016-17 season as a true floor general: she averaged 5.8 assists per game, a school record and one of the best marks in the Mountain West, while also posting 7.3 points and 1.2 steals per game in 29.4 minutes[1][2]. Her calling card was feel and control—she was the team’s engine, earned Mountain West Championship All-Tournament Team honors, and showed the kind of steady, high-IQ play that makes teammates better[1][12]. If you value a guard who organizes offense, protects the ball, and brings veteran leadership, she’s your kind of player[1][12].
