Chase Thomas is Texas Tech’s do-everything freshman bat with a strong walk rate
In the 2026 season, Texas Tech OF Chase Thomas flashed a patient, team-first profile: he appeared in 12 games, made one start, scored three runs, and drew three walks in just nine official at-bats, including a walk and run in his debut against Vanderbilt.[1] The 5-foot-11, 220-pound left-handed hitter is a grinder-type fit who brings on-base value, some sneaky physicality, and enough versatility to earn trust in short bursts. His stat line is still small, but the walk rate and quick reach-base impact suggest a player worth watching if you want a disciplined, tough, low-drama piece who can grow into more.
