Sam Besong brings depth, special-teams value, and a reliable scout-team presence for UMass
Sam Besong is currently profiled by UMass as a **back-up linebacker** who contributes on **special teams** and is expected to fill a similar role, with the staff also calling him a **strong scout team player**. That makes him valuable if your team wants a dependable, high-effort linebacker who helps the program every day even without headline stats. The main differentiator is his versatility and willingness to do the dirty work—exactly the kind of player coaches trust for depth, developmental upside, and special-teams stability.
