Bowling Green's Tackling Machine and MAC Legend from the Early 2000s
Keon Newson, a standout defensive back for the Bowling Green Falcons, exploded in 2003 with a team-high 124 tackles, 15 pass breakups, 9 TFLs, and 6 forced fumbles across 13 starts, earning two-time MAC West Player of the Week honors; his relentless intensity and ball-hawking instincts (6 career INTs) made him a disruptive force. Post-college, he signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams in 2005. Now a program legend, Newson's proven leadership and big-play ability make him an ideal fit for teams seeking gritty, high-motor DBs—though his era predates current eligibility.
