Experienced Syracuse DB with proven ball skills and tackling reliability
Butler is a former Notre Dame graduate transfer who brought Syracuse veteran depth in the secondary, and in the 2017 season he recorded 20 tackles for the Orange while showing the kind of competitive, assignment-sound play coaches value in a DB. His Syracuse and Notre Dame résumés point to a defender with real game experience, including an interception, pass breakups, and a forced fumble at Notre Dame, which suggests he can contribute in coverage and support against the run. For a team, he fit as a physical, seasoned defensive back rather than a flashy stat-stuffer.
