small guard, steady playmaker, and a proven spark for UC Irvine
Irene Chavez was a compact, high-energy guard for UC Irvine who brought scoring, playmaking, and toughness in a limited 5'3" frame; in her senior season, she averaged 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists while appearing in all 31 games with 18 starts. She stood out as a reliable distributor and perimeter threat, and UCI noted she led the team with 23 three-pointers the prior year. For a team needing a savvy, competitive guard who can handle pressure and raise the pace, she fits the mold well.[2][7][9]
