Thomas Harper brings innings, size, and steady strike-throwing to Illinois State's rotation
In the 2026 season, the 6-foot-5 senior right-hander has been a dependable mound presence for Illinois State, highlighted by an opening-day win and early outings that kept the Redbirds in games. Harper’s appeal is his starter’s frame, sink-it-and-compete profile, and ability to work deep enough to stabilize a weekend staff; he also earned MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, which speaks to reliability and maturity. The flip side: his 2026 ERA and WHIP show he’s more steady than dominant, so he fits best as a rotation arm who can pound the zone and give your team structure rather than pure wipeout stuff.
