Marcus Romero is a speed-and-power spark plug for NIU
In the 2026 season, Marcus Romero gave Northern Illinois a dynamic outfield/DH threat: he hit .333 with a .925 OPS, scored 45 runs, led the Huskies with 24 stolen bases, and added 10 doubles, 3 homers, and 49 hits. He also showed postseason punch, hitting .323 in the NCAA run and going deep twice against St. John’s. At 6-foot-4, he brings unusual size-speed combo and high-impact baserunning, plus a 3.565 GPA and Academic All-District recognition—an athletic, competitive, versatile fit if a team wants a hitter who can change a game in multiple ways.
