Depth piece on a winning Sam Houston DL
John Goree is part of a Sam Houston defense that helped the Bearkats finish 9-3 in 2024 and win the New Orleans Bowl, which gives him a strong team-context bump even when individual stat detail is limited. As a defensive lineman, the appeal is straightforward: if he is contributing to that unit, he’s being asked to bring physicality, toughness, and line-of-scrimmage resistance in a program coming off a successful season. Based on the available information, he looks more like a developmental fit than a proven headline star, but that can still be valuable for teams looking for size, effort, and rotational upside.
