Brandon Mayes brings veteran secondary depth and ball-hawking upside to Western Illinois
Brandon Mayes is a seasoned defensive back whose value comes from experience, range, and production in coverage, including a strong NIU season where he started all 14 games and posted 87 tackles with 3 interceptions in 2023. Listed at 5'11", 195 pounds and now at Western Illinois, he profiles as a physical, instinctive DB who can help stabilize a secondary and make plays on the ball. He looks like a fit for teams that want a mature, reliable defender with proven game experience rather than a developmental project.
