Arizona State’s Big, Left-Handed Bat-Misser With Starter Upside
Cole Carlon, Arizona State’s 6-foot-5, 230-pound lefty, turned himself from a shaky freshman reliever into one of college baseball’s nastiest strikeout arms: in the 2025 season he posted a 3.33 ERA with 86 strikeouts in 54 innings, then earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and entered the 2026 MLB Draft mix as a top-tier prospect[1][2][4][9]. What makes him interesting beyond the stat line is the power profile and competitive edge—he’s a true southpaw who can miss bats in volume, handle leverage, and, by 2026, was trusted enough to open as ASU’s No. 1 starter before being selected 39th overall by Toronto[1][13][14].
