Devondre Powell brings veteran-ballhawk energy to South Carolina State’s secondary
Powell has long been viewed as a trusted, physical defensive back for South Carolina State, earning preseason All-MEAC second-team recognition in 2017 and standing out as a playmaker with a knack for forced turnovers, including a scoop-and-score against Savannah State in 2015[1][2][3]. His profile suggests a compact, tough DB who plays with urgency and opportunism rather than flash, which makes him the kind of defender coaches value for reliability, competitiveness, and big-moment instincts[1][2].
