YSU’s veteran free-safety standard-bearer
Scott Thiessen is a former Youngstown State free safety who stood out for production and brains, earning 2003 Academic All-American recognition and first-team all-conference honors after a career that included 80 tackles in the 2002-03 season. He’s the kind of defender who brings range, discipline, and reliable tackling, plus the kind of team-first résumé coaches love: tough, intelligent, and clearly comfortable in a secondary role that demands communication and trust. If your team values football IQ and steady back-line leadership over flash, he’s the right flavor of nasty.
