Jackson Smallets brings Coastal Carolina a big, projectable right arm with freshman-year polish
Smallets already looks like a useful rotation piece for Coastal Carolina: in 2026, he made 14 appearances and 10 starts, posted a 4.54 ERA over 35.2 innings, struck out 26, and held hitters to a .237 average while earning 2026 All-Sun Belt Freshman Team honors.[3] At 6-foot-5 with a strong right-handed frame, he’s a durable, starter-capable arm whose recruiting buzz included reports of a heater touching the mid-to-high 90s and a slider that plays well when he’s on time.[1][12] His appeal is upside plus early collegiate poise, though the walk total suggests the command still needs refinement.[3]
