Elon's Iron-Clad DB with Elite Size and Pro-Level Intensity
David Wood, the 6'2", 206-lb defensive back for Elon's 2026 football team, stands out not just for his rare size at the DB position but for his relentless, pro-day intensity that coaches describe as 'unmatched in the conference.' Unlike many peers who rely solely on speed, Wood differentiates with a physical, tackle-first style and a personality that elevates team morale during high-pressure games. Though he has no significant injury history, his 2024 season saw him log 89 total tackles (70 solo), ranking him among the FCS stat leaders in defensive production. His differentiator is the combination of elite size, consistent intensity, and a leadership aura that makes him a perfect fit for teams needing a physical, game-changing DB who can also mentor younger players.
