Reliable, Big-Frame Tight End With Red-Zone Juice
In the 2025 season, Jake Johnson gave North Carolina a sturdy pass-catching option at tight end, finishing with 16 catches for 144 yards and a touchdown after a quieter 2024 in Chapel Hill. He’s a 6-foot-6 target with strong hands, a big catch radius, and proven contested-catch ability, which makes him especially useful near the goal line and on possession routes. The tradeoff: he’s more developmental than explosive, with route polish and blocking consistency still needing work. If a team wants size, reliability, and a veteran presence, he fits; if it wants a pure separator, he’s less that guy.
