Lefty with real strikeout juice, still building back from injury
In the 2026 season, JD Costanzo flashed as a redshirt sophomore left-hander for West Virginia, getting into four games and striking out three in 2.2 innings while also logging a scoreless frame against Columbia and surviving a ninth-inning jam at Arizona State. He’s a compact 5-foot-10 southpaw with arm talent, competitive edge, and a track record of missing bats dating back to high school, but his résumé also includes Tommy John surgery and another arm issue that cost him time. The upside is obvious; the question is durability and how quickly he turns scattered relief work into a bigger role.
